Sabah Al Ahmad International Financial Centre
The Sabah Al Ahmad Financial Centre in Kuwait City is a 60,000 m2 mixed-use commercial development consisting of a 36-floor office tower, supporting buildings and a 3-level below-grade car park. Floors 16 thru 25 of the tower are earmarked for potential conversion to hotel functions, while two mezzanine floors and the remaining 26 stories of this high-rise building consist of office space. This is the first building in Kuwait to pursue LEED Certification.
7group provided Integrative Design consulting, charrette facilitation, LEED consulting, LEED specifications, energy consulting and modeling peer reviews, and LEED documentation services for this project.
Features include a rainwater harvesting system, on-site wastewater treatment , extensive indoor air quality measures, building integrated renewable energy generation via a series of twelve 16-meter tall vertical wind turbines capable of producing 1.2 million kWh year, copious daylighting strategies and modeling, and thermal envelope/energy savings measures that reduce annual energy consumption by 22% in an extreme cooling- demand climate.
